PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: March 26, 2026

IN SUMMARY

Glot does not retain any voice data beyond immediate processing. Your voice is processed for the duration of the translation, then deleted. We do not sell any data. We only use your information to operate the service. You can request deletion of your account at any time at contact@getglot.com.

1. Identity and Roles

Glot is a real-time voice interpretation service accessible via web browser. Depending on the context of use, Glot may act as data controller or data processor under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

When you use Glot as an individual or on your own behalf, Glot acts as data controller. When you use Glot in the context of an event organised by a company or third-party organisation, that organisation acts as data controller and Glot acts as data processor, pursuant to a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) concluded between the parties. In this context, Glot undertakes to process data exclusively in accordance with the documented instructions of the data controller.

For any questions regarding data protection, you may contact Glot at contact@getglot.com.

2. Data Collected

Account data

Email address, login settings and usage preferences. This data is required to create and manage your account.

Technical data

Device type, IP address, technical error logs and interface language. This data is used solely to ensure the security and proper functioning of the platform.

Voice data, non-retention principle

Glot applies a voice data non-retention principle. Your voice is processed in RAM for the time strictly necessary for audio-to-text-to-translation conversion. Following this processing, voice data is not retained on Glot's servers.

This processing involves technical transit of audio data to cloud infrastructure services required to operate the service. These services are subject to GDPR-compliant confidentiality and data processing agreements. Technical infrastructure logs may be temporarily retained for security and debugging purposes, without containing audio content or associated transcriptions.

3. Data Flows and Processing Locations

As part of the operation of Glot, audio data transits from your device to cloud infrastructure servers. This transit is carried out via encrypted connections (TLS). Non-voice technical data is hosted on cloud infrastructure located within the European Union or governed by the guarantees provided by the GDPR for international transfers, in particular the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

No data enabling identification of the content of a voice exchange is retained after processing.

4. Purposes and Legal Bases

The provision of the real-time voice interpretation service is based on the performance of the contract binding you to Glot. Improving technical performance and platform security is based on Glot's legitimate interest. Managing your communication preferences and optional cookies is based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time. Compliance with our legal and regulatory obligations is based on compliance with those obligations.

5. Sub-processors and Technical Partners

To ensure the operation of the service, Glot uses specialist service providers who act exclusively on Glot's instructions and within the strict scope of their mission. These providers have signed data processing agreements compliant with Article 28 of the GDPR.

IONOS SE handles hosting of the getglot.com domain name. Framer handles hosting and distribution of the public website. Google Cloud Platform provides cloud infrastructure and hosting services for non-voice technical data.

No data is sold, transferred or exploited for advertising purposes.

6. Retention Periods

Voice data is not retained beyond the immediate processing described in Article 2. Account data is retained for the entire period your account is active, then deleted within 30 days of closure, unless a longer legal retention obligation applies. Technical infrastructure logs are retained for a maximum of 12 months for security purposes, without containing voice content or transcriptions.

7. Data Breaches

In the event of a personal data breach likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, Glot undertakes to notify the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL) within 72 hours in accordance with Article 33 of the GDPR. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk, you will be directly informed as soon as possible.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Glot uses cookies to ensure the operation of the service, maintain your session and remember your preferences. Cookies strictly necessary for the operation of the service are set without prior consent and retained for the duration of your session or up to 12 months for saved preferences. Analytical or optional cookies are only set after collecting your explicit consent via the cookie management banner displayed on your first visit, and are retained for a maximum of 13 months. You may modify or withdraw your preferences at any time from this banner.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access your data, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restriction of processing, the right to object, the right to data portability and the right to withdraw your consent where it constitutes the legal basis for processing.

To exercise any of these rights, send your request to contact@getglot.com. Glot undertakes to respond within one month of receiving your request. If you believe your rights are not being respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).

10. Data Protection Officer

Glot has not appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) within the meaning of Article 37 of the GDPR, as this appointment is not required given the nature and volume of processing carried out at this stage. For any questions regarding data protection, you may contact Glot directly at contact@getglot.com.

11. Security

Glot implements appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or alteration. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, strict access rights management, infrastructure monitoring and regular updates to security protocols.

12. Policy Updates

This privacy policy may evolve in response to legislative, technical or organisational changes affecting Glot. The date at the top of this document indicates the version in force. Any material change will be notified to you by email or by a visible notice on the service before it takes effect.
