WHAT IS YOUR SETUP?
Select the configuration that matches your event situation.
Ideal for
Any room equipped with a mixing console: convention centers, hotels, auditoriums. The speaker's mic is already connected to the board.
Required equipment
USB audio interface (e.g. iRig, USB sound card) and an audio cable matching the console output (6.35mm jack or XLR). The AV technician can usually provide the right cable.
Steps
- Ask the AV technician for an available audio output (AUX / LINE OUT / REC OUT)
- Connect this output to your audio interface
- Plug the interface into your device via USB-C
- Launch Glot and verify the audio is captured correctly
Don't forget
Test with the AV technician before the event.
Pro tip: Ask for a dedicated REC OUT if available. It gives you a cleaner signal independent of the main mix.
Ideal for
Any situation, with or without a mixing board, with or without an AV technician. Works everywhere, independently of the room's installation.
Required equipment
Wireless lavalier mic (e.g. Rode Wireless GO) and a connection cable to your device.
Steps
- Charge the transmitter and receiver before the event (7h battery life)
- Clip the transmitter on the speaker, lapel or collar, mic 15–20 cm from the mouth
- Connect the receiver to your device via USB-C
- Select the receiver as audio input in your device settings
- Launch Glot and verify the audio is captured correctly
Don't forget
If multiple speakers follow one another, plan a mic handoff between each intervention.
Pro tip: The Rode Wireless GO II allows two transmitters simultaneously. Perfect for panel discussions.
Ideal for
Meetings, roundtables, workshops, quiet rooms under 50 people, without a sound system.
Required equipment
USB microphone (e.g. Rode NT-USB Mini, Blue Yeti).
Steps
- Place the microphone facing the speaker
- Connect the USB cable to your device
- Launch Glot and verify the audio capture
Don't forget
Avoid using this setup in large rooms or noisy environments.
Pro tip: Position the mic as close as possible to the speaker. Aim for under 50 cm for best transcription quality.
